Mandate

Canadian Virtual University-Université virtuelle canadienne is a collaboration of Canadian universities committed to delivering quality online and distance programs to learners across Canada and around the world.

Mandate

  1. to provide access to distance-delivered degree programs through the creation of a website;
  2. to facilitate contact among its members and learners;
  3. to provide access to new programs jointly developed by its members;
  4. to provide a clearing house allowing learners to more easily mix and match distance education courses offered by its members;
  5. to provide a common course catalogue for its members and learners;
  6. to facilitate transfers of credits among its members;
  7. to conduct ongoing research relating to individualized and collaborative learning and to the use of information communications technologies;
  8. to increase the profile of the distance offerings of its members through promotional activities;
  9. to obtain cost savings for its members through sharing ideas and resources and through joint purchasing;
  10. to seek public and private funding;
  11. to provide an efficient administrative system for advising learners, for admissions, for course registration, and for grade notification and recording;
  12. to minimize non-tuition costs to students.
