How Does Distance Education Work?

Distance and online education is different from classroom-based education. It allows you to complete courses or a whole degree without ever attending a physical campus.

Last year, 119,500 Canadian and international students registered in our distance courses.

This is what some say about their experience:

"I was able to complete my MBA while continuing to work in a position that required me to travel frequently. I would never have been able to complete my degree if I had not taken it online." Darren Anderson, BSc, MBA. Bayer Canada

"Everyone has an opportunity to respond to questions. I find that's a wonderful way of learning..."

"I love the flexibility of my courses. I also like being able to choose different exam sessions so I can move as quickly as I want..."

However, distance learning is not for everyone.

For many of our programs, the only admission requirement is that you be 16 years or older. High motivation and self-discipline are even more important than how much previous education you have.

Typically, our students are adults who want a university education to advance their careers and who have to juggle their education with family and work commitments.

As well, distance courses are popular with on-campus university students who can't get the courses they need at their own university.
