Virtual U offers online solutions to scheduling problemsFor
immediate release
No student has the perfect course schedule. There always seems to be one course that's not available, and whose timetable doesn't conflict with sleep or job schedules?
Canadian Virtual University (CVU) offers a solution, with over 2,000 online and distance undergraduate courses that you complete on your time, at your own pace. Most courses are degree-credit and can be transferred to oncampus programs at universities across the country. And many have year-round start dates, so you can pick up a course well after, or before, traditional university registration deadlines.
Online and distance courses are available in most disciplines, such as business, humanities, social sciences, sciences, and computing. Some courses are paced, requiring you to start and complete at specific time; others can be completed as quickly as you like within a six-month limit for a three-credit course.
“We have seen an increase over the past few years in the number of oncampus students taking one or two online courses to complete their degrees or solve scheduling problems,” reports executive director Vicky Busch. “Before they register, students should confirm with their home university that the online course meets their program requirements.”
“The convenience and flexibility of online learning are its greatest benefit,” explains Busch. “Students can log on to their courses at any time and can work at their own pace. Another advantage is the email and phone access to a personal tutor, which is especially popular in courses such as stats and math, where one-on-one assistance is a bonus. Many students report that they have more contact with professors in online classes then they ever had in face-to-face classes.”
Last year, over 100,000 students registered in CVU courses.
