Canadian Virtual University - Online Summer Courses

pick up a missing course this summer

When Paula found out she had just failed her second-year chemistry course, she thought her only choices were to go to summer school or to take a heavier load next year. Neither was appealing.

So she registered in an online course which allowed her to both get a summer job and work on her course when it was convenient.

Thousands of students have already signed up for a distance course that they intend to transfer to their oncampus program.

“Every year we see a greater number of students who take an online course to fast track their degree or pick up some missing credits,” says Vicky Busch, Executive Director of Canadian Virtual University, an association of Canadian universities specializing in distance and online education.

One member university, Athabasca University, reports that registrations from students at other universities this summer is up about 15 per cent over last year.

“Before students register in an online course, they should request a letter of permission from their university to ensure the course meets their program requirements,” stresses Busch.

It's not too late to register--hundreds of courses have year-round start dates.
