Canadian Virtual University - New online certificates

new university offers unique online certificates

Mount Royal University has joined Canadian Virtual University (CVU), a consortium of 10 of Canada’s leading universities in online and distance education, to become CVU’s 10th member in its 10th year.

“Online education is a growing area for us, and we’re always looking for new partnerships to benefit our students," says Dr. Norma MacIntosh, Dean of Continuing Education and Extension. "The consortium is an excellent opportunity to position our programs on the international stage and nationally as well.”

Mount Royal adds eight new certificates to the current catalogue of over 300 programs in niche areas not previously offered completely online.

"These new programs are an excellent complement to what we already offer," says Vicky Busch, executive director of CVU. "They offer more opportunities to students around the world who are looking for quality online education in new areas such as Children's Human Rights, Forensic Studies, and International Community Development."

CVU was founded in 2000 to increase access to higher education and facilitate transfer credit and institutional collaboration in the delivery of distance and online education.

Last year, over 100,000 students at participating universities were registered in over 500,000 credit hours of distance or online degree courses.
