Memorial University (MUN) invites applications for the position of Director of Distance Education, Learning and Teaching Support (DELTS).

Memorial University is one of Canada’s finest post-secondary teaching and research institutions, and the largest university in the Atlantic region.  Committed to academic excellence, Memorial plays an integral role in the educational, business, and cultural life of Newfoundland and Labrador, and has a special responsibility to reach out and serve all citizens of the province. In addition to its St. John’s campus, MUN offers undergraduate degree programs at the Grenfell campus in western Newfoundland and specialized programs at campuses at the Marine Institute, in St. Pierre, and in Harlow, England. The University provides diverse undergraduate and graduate opportunities to approximately 15,000 full- and part-time students. Memorial’s 900 faculty and 1,400 non-academic staff help to create, with their students, a distinctive learning environment within teaching and research programs of international distinction. DELTS is the primary teaching and learning support unit for Memorial University. It also provides the leadership, service, and support to make Memorial University an internationally recognized leader in distance education. The unit is responsible for providing support for excellence and innovation in teaching, and for the on campus use of educational technology, which includes blended learning, media services, and classroom design and support. DELTS has enjoyed tremendous growth over the last decade, and has been recognized for excellence with numerous awards and citations.

The successful candidate for Director will be a dynamic, innovative and entrepreneurial leader, and will have significant experience in a senior management role, preferably in a complex educational environment and/or in a training and development role in the public or private sector. He/she must have experience in, and an affinity for, seeking, developing and nurturing partnerships with a wide variety of public and private stakeholders, all in support of the teaching and learning enterprise. In addition, the ideal individual will have experience in teaching or in the delivery of training programs, and an appreciation of educator development, e-learning, and 21st century teaching and learning practices.
