To work as a dietitian in Canada you require a bachelor's degree in nutrition or dietetics and a provincial dietitian license.

Currently, Canadian Virtual University does not offer this degree completely at a distance, but we can help you meet the admission requirements for on-campus programs across Canada.

You can also use distance courses to complete up to the first year of courses and transfer the credits to a nutrition program at another university.

If you wish to take distance courses to transfer to a dietetics program at another university, first review the admission and program requirements of the program you plan to take.

Professional Licensure as a dietitian

 

The profession of dietitian is regulated in Canada. This means that you must meet the qualifications and standards set by provincial regulatory bodies.

Before selecting a dietetics degree program, verify that the program is accepted by the regulatory body in the province where you plan to work.

Foreign Credentials

If you have a dietetic degree from another country, you may not need to take more university courses. To find out if you are eligible for direct licensure, contact the regulatory body in the province where you plan to work.
